ROME: A BUILDING EQUIPPED WITH A MULTI-SERVICE PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Inaugurated in Rome a building with more than 2 thousand kilometres of fibre optics and 60 thousand square metres of surface area.
Hitrac carried out the refunctionalisation and technological upgrading of the systems of a building with a multi-service physical infrastructure, owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), which has more than 2,000 kilometres of fibre optic cable covering more than 60,000 square metres.
The facility was inaugurated in 2019, but design work began ten years earlier, requiring a major renovation of the installed equipment, as it should have expressed the state-of-the-art technology at the date of testing. This is because "mission critical" activities are carried out inside, requiring absolute operability and reliability, where nothing can be stopped due to a fault.
The passive multi-service physical infrastructure and the reception and distribution of television signals were realised using products supplied by FTE Maximal Italia, which became a true partner for Hitrac.
"The concept of receiving and distributing television signals developed in two different stages," explains Francesco Miraglia, Project Manager at Hitrac. "In the first phase, from 2009 to 2014, the aim was to install a 'standard' reception and distribution system, adding a few TV outlets to reach 80. Since 2015, however, the number of TV outlets has increased from 80 to over 750, and video streaming service has been added to each of the 2,800 workstations to distribute a selection of the most important TV channels".
